Gallery Expiration
Gallery expiration gives you control over how long a collection stays accessible. Set a date and creavio automatically takes the gallery offline when it passes — no manual cleanup required.
Why Use Expiration
Expiration dates serve several purposes for photographers:
- Encourage urgency — clients are more likely to order prints and downloads when they know the gallery won't last forever
- Manage storage — expired galleries free up space on your account
- Set expectations — clients understand the delivery timeline upfront
- Protect your work — images aren't available indefinitely on the internet
Setting an Expiration Date
Open the collection and navigate to Settings → Availability. Toggle on Gallery Expiration and pick a date. Common timeframes are 30 days for mini sessions, 90 days for weddings, and 14 days for proofing galleries. You can also type a specific date if you have a contractual deadline.
What Happens When a Gallery Expires
When the expiration date passes, the gallery link shows a friendly message: "This gallery is no longer available. Contact your photographer for access." Your images are not deleted — they remain in your creavio account and you can re-enable the gallery at any time.
Client Notifications
creavio sends automatic reminders before a gallery expires:
- 7 days before — a reminder email to the client with a direct link
- 1 day before — a final reminder encouraging them to download
You can customize these reminder emails or disable them entirely from the notification settings.
Extending or Removing Expiration
Changed your mind? Edit the expiration date or remove it entirely from the same settings panel. If a client asks for more time, you can push the date forward without creating a new gallery. The original link stays the same.
Gallery expiration is available on all plans.
