Video Gallery Delivery
More photographers are offering video alongside stills. Wedding highlight reels, behind-the-scenes content, event recaps, and social media clips. creavio handles video delivery natively alongside your photos in the same collection.
Uploading Video
Upload video files to any Collection the same way you upload photos. Supported formats: MP4, MOV, AVI, and most common video codecs. Maximum file size per video depends on your plan.
When you upload a video, creavio automatically:
- Generates a thumbnail preview
- Creates adaptive streaming versions (360p, 720p, 1080p, 4K based on source quality)
- Produces a web-optimized preview for gallery browsing
Processing takes a few minutes depending on file size. You will see a status indicator (processing, ready) on each video.
Adaptive Streaming
creavio uses HLS adaptive streaming for video playback. This means the player automatically adjusts video quality based on the viewer's internet connection. A client on fast wifi sees 4K. A client on cellular sees 720p. No buffering either way.
This is the same technology used by Netflix and YouTube. Your videos play smoothly on any device and connection speed.
Mixing Photos and Video in a Gallery
In your collection, photos and videos can live together. Videos appear in the gallery grid with a play icon overlay. When clicked, they open in the lightbox player.
Organize strategically:
- Place the highlight reel at the top of the gallery as a featured item
- Scatter behind-the-scenes clips throughout photo sections for variety
- Group all video content in its own section if the client prefers separation
Download Options for Video
Configure video download permissions separately from photos:
- Stream only: Clients can watch but not download. Useful for preview reels or when final cut is pending.
- Download enabled: Clients download the full-resolution source file. Standard for final delivery.
- Web version download: A compressed version optimized for social media sharing (720p, smaller file size).
Video-Specific Use Cases
Wedding highlight films: Upload the 3-5 minute highlight reel alongside the full photo gallery. The couple shares the video first (it gets more engagement) and browses photos at their leisure.
Corporate event recaps: Include a 60-90 second event recap video at the top of the gallery. Marketing teams use these for social media and internal communications.
Social media clips: Deliver vertical (9:16) clips formatted for Instagram Reels, TikTok, or YouTube Shorts in their own gallery section.
File Size Considerations
Raw video files are large. A 5-minute 4K highlight reel can be 5-10 GB. creavio handles this through:
- Chunked uploads that resume if your connection drops
- Server-side transcoding to multiple quality levels
- Streaming delivery (clients do not need to download the full file to watch)

Pricing Video Delivery
If you are adding video to your photography packages, build the delivery into your pricing. Video processing and storage use more resources than photos. Most photographers charge a premium for packages that include video content.
