Watermarking

Watermarking

Watermarks protect your work while still showcasing it to clients. creavio lets you apply customizable watermarks to proofing galleries without altering your original files.

Setting Up Your Watermark

  1. Go to Collections > Settings > Watermark
  2. Choose your watermark type:
  • Logo watermark — upload a transparent PNG of your logo
  • Text watermark — enter your business name or copyright text

Customizing Appearance

After uploading or entering your watermark, adjust these settings:

  • Position — center, corner, or tiled across the image
  • Size — percentage of the image width (15-40% recommended)
  • Opacity — how transparent the watermark appears (30-50% is typical)
  • Color — white, black, or custom (for text watermarks)
  • Rotation — angle the watermark diagonally for harder removal

Applying Watermarks to Collections

Watermarks are applied per-collection. When creating or editing a collection:

  1. Go to Settings > Display
  2. Toggle Enable Watermark
  3. Select your saved watermark preset
  4. Preview on a sample image before publishing

Watermarks are applied dynamically when clients view images — your original uploaded files remain untouched.

When to Use Watermarks

  • Proofing galleries — protect images before the client has paid for finals
  • Portfolio previews — share work on social media with subtle branding
  • Blog posts — discourage unauthorized use of session previews

When to Skip Watermarks

  • Paid delivery collections — clients who've paid should receive clean images
  • Print-ready galleries — watermarks interfere with print sales

A well-designed watermark protects your work without ruining the viewing experience. Keep it subtle enough to not distract but visible enough to deter theft.
