Migrating From Pixieset to creavio
Pixieset is a solid gallery platform. But it is only a gallery platform. If you are ready for an all-in-one solution that includes galleries plus CRM, bookings, invoicing, contracts, website, and marketing tools, creavio replaces Pixieset and everything else you are using alongside it.
What Changes
- Galleries: creavio Collections replace Pixieset galleries with the same features plus more (AI tagging, multiple delivery modes, proofing)
- Client stores: If you sell prints through Pixieset, you will handle this through creavio's invoicing (direct lab integration is on the roadmap)
- Website: If you use Pixieset's website builder, creavio's website builder is a direct replacement with more SEO controls
Migration Steps
Step 1: Download Your Images From Pixieset
Pixieset does not offer a bulk export of all galleries at once. You will need to download each gallery individually:
- Go to your Pixieset dashboard
- Open each gallery
- Click Download All to get the original files
- Save each gallery in a clearly labeled folder on your computer
Yes, this is tedious if you have dozens of galleries. But it is a one-time effort and it gives you a local backup of everything.
Step 2: Export Your Client List
In Pixieset, go to Clients and export your contact list. This gives you names and email addresses. Import this CSV into creavio's CRM.
Step 3: Recreate Galleries in creavio
For active galleries (clients who still need access), upload the images to creavio Collections. Match your Pixieset gallery settings:
- Download permissions (enabled/disabled)
- Password protection
- Favorites/proofing mode
- Gallery expiration date
For archived galleries, you do not need to re-upload everything. Keep the downloaded files as your archive. Only recreate galleries for clients who actively need access.
Step 4: Send New Gallery Links
Active clients need to know their gallery link has changed. Send a brief email through creavio: "Your gallery has moved to a new home. Here is your updated link." Include the new password if applicable.
Step 5: Redirect Your Website
If you used Pixieset's website, build your new site on creavio. Transfer your:
- Portfolio images (your best work)
- About page content
- Service descriptions and pricing
- Contact information
- Blog posts (copy and paste content, re-upload images)
If you own a custom domain, point it to creavio under Settings > Domains. The switch is instant once DNS propagates.
Step 6: Explore What You Could Not Do Before
Now that you are on creavio, set up the features Pixieset did not offer:
- CRM: Track client history, tags, and referral sources
- Booking page: Accept bookings directly through your site
- Contracts: Send and sign electronically
- Invoicing: Bill clients and accept payments through Stripe
- Automation: Set up workflows for booking confirmations and follow-ups
The switch from Pixieset to creavio is not just a gallery migration. It is a business upgrade. You are going from a single-purpose tool to a complete platform.
