Bank Accounts & Plaid

Bank Accounts & Plaid

creavio integrates with Plaid to securely connect your bank accounts, credit cards, and financial institutions. Once connected, transactions import automatically — no manual entry required.

Connecting a Bank Account

  1. Go to Money > Settings > Bank Accounts
  2. Click + Connect Account
  3. Search for your bank or credit union
  4. Log in with your banking credentials through Plaid's secure window
  5. Select which accounts to connect (checking, savings, credit card)
  6. Click Done

creavio never stores your banking password. Plaid handles authentication directly with your bank using bank-level encryption.

How Transaction Imports Work

Once connected, creavio pulls in new transactions daily. Each imported transaction includes the date, amount, and merchant name. creavio's smart categorization suggests a category based on the merchant and your past behavior.

Managing Connected Accounts

  • Rename accounts for clarity (e.g., "Business Checking" instead of the bank's default)
  • Disconnect an account at any time without losing historical data
  • Reconnect if your bank requires re-authentication (this happens occasionally)
  • Set a primary account for default transaction views

Troubleshooting

  • Bank not found? Plaid supports thousands of institutions but not every small credit union. You can always add transactions manually.
  • Transactions not importing? Try disconnecting and reconnecting. Some banks require periodic re-authentication.
  • Duplicate transactions? creavio detects duplicates automatically, but you can merge or delete them manually if needed.

Connecting your bank account is the fastest way to keep your books current with minimal effort.
