Cash Flow Forecasting

Cash Flow Forecasting

Cash flow problems are the number one reason small businesses fail. creavio's forecasting tool helps you see what's coming before it hits — so you can plan instead of react.

How the Forecast Works

creavio builds your cash flow forecast from three data sources:

  • Scheduled income — outstanding invoices, payment plans, and recurring income
  • Scheduled expenses — recurring transactions, upcoming bills, and known costs
  • Historical patterns — seasonal trends from your past transaction data

Viewing Your Forecast

Navigate to Money > Reports > Cash Flow. The forecast displays as a timeline chart showing:

  • Projected balance over the next 30, 60, or 90 days
  • Income bars (green) for expected money coming in
  • Expense bars (red) for expected money going out
  • Net cash flow line showing the running total

Warning Indicators

creavio highlights potential issues with visual alerts:

  • Yellow warning — your balance is projected to dip below your comfort threshold
  • Red alert — your balance is projected to go negative

Improving Your Forecast Accuracy

  1. Keep invoices up to date — unpaid invoices feed the income projection
  2. Log recurring expenses — the more creavio knows about fixed costs, the better the forecast
  3. Record seasonal bookings early — even tentative bookings improve the projection
  4. Review weekly — adjust as new bookings come in or expenses change

A 90-day forecast gives you enough runway to make smart decisions about spending, pricing, and when to push for new bookings.
