Mileage Tracking
If you drive to shoots, client meetings, or vendor pickups, those miles are tax-deductible. creavio makes it easy to log and categorize every business trip so you're not scrambling at tax time.
Logging a Trip
- Go to Money > Mileage
- Click + New Trip
- Enter the start and end locations (or total miles)
- Select the purpose: client shoot, scouting, supply run, meeting, etc.
- Choose the date and add optional notes
- Click Save
IRS Mileage Rate
creavio automatically applies the current IRS standard mileage rate to calculate your deduction. The rate updates annually — you don't need to change anything. You'll see both the miles driven and the estimated deduction value for each trip.
Viewing Your Mileage Summary
The mileage dashboard shows:
- Total miles logged for the current year
- Estimated deduction based on the IRS rate
- Breakdown by purpose so you can see where you're driving most
- Monthly trends to spot your busiest travel months
Tips for Accurate Mileage Tracking
- Log trips the same day — don't rely on memory
- Only log business-related miles, not personal errands
- If a trip is mixed (personal and business), only log the business portion
- Keep your home studio address updated in settings for accurate calculations
Consistent mileage tracking can save photographers hundreds or even thousands of dollars at tax time. Make it a habit after every shoot.
