Payment Plans
Not every client can pay the full amount upfront. creavio's payment plans let you break an invoice into scheduled installments — making it easier for clients to say yes while keeping your cash flow predictable.
Creating a Payment Plan
- Create or open an existing invoice
- Click Payment Plan in the invoice options
- Choose the number of installments (2, 3, 4, or custom)
- Set the schedule: equal amounts or custom splits
- Choose due dates for each installment
- Click Apply
The invoice now displays each installment with its due date and amount. Clients see the full plan when they view the invoice.
How Clients Pay
Each installment appears as a separate payable amount on the invoice page. Clients can pay each one as it comes due. creavio sends automatic reminders before each installment date.
Tracking Payment Plan Progress
On your invoice dashboard, payment plan invoices show a progress indicator:
- 1 of 3 paid — with the next due date visible
- Overdue flag if an installment is past due
- Completed when all installments are paid
Common Payment Plan Structures
- Wedding photography: 3 payments — booking retainer, mid-point, and final delivery
- Commercial projects: 50% upfront, 50% on delivery
- Large print orders: 2 equal payments, 30 days apart
Best Practices
- Always collect a non-refundable retainer as the first installment
- Require full payment before delivering final files
- Keep installment periods short (30-60 days between payments)
- Document payment plan terms in your contract
