Profitability Analysis
Revenue is only half the picture. creavio's Profitability Analysis shows you which clients, services, and projects actually put money in your pocket after expenses.
Accessing Profitability Reports
Go to Money > Reports > Profitability. You'll see three views:
- By Client — revenue minus expenses for each client
- By Service — profitability per service type (weddings, portraits, commercial, etc.)
- By Project — individual job profitability including time and materials
What's Included in the Calculation
creavio calculates profitability by subtracting all costs linked to a client or project from the revenue earned:
- Revenue: Invoice payments, print sales, add-on fees
- Costs: Travel expenses, second shooter fees, gear rentals, editing time, prints, and albums
The result is your net profit and profit margin for each item.
Reading the Report
Each row shows the client or service name, total revenue, total costs, net profit, and profit margin as a percentage. Sort by any column to find your most (or least) profitable work.
Taking Action on Your Data
- Double down on high-margin services — if headshots earn 70% margin and weddings earn 20%, consider your mix
- Raise prices on low-margin work — if a service barely breaks even, the price is too low
- Cut unprofitable activities — some work costs more than it brings in when you factor in time
- Identify your best clients — high-revenue clients aren't always high-profit clients
