Receipt Scanning
Stop hoarding shoeboxes of paper receipts. creavio's receipt scanner uses your phone camera to capture, extract, and categorize business expenses in seconds.
How to Scan a Receipt
- Open creavio on your phone (browser or PWA)
- Go to Money > Expenses
- Tap the camera icon or Scan Receipt
- Point your camera at the receipt and capture the image
- creavio extracts the vendor, date, amount, and tax automatically
- Verify the details and tap Save
What Gets Extracted
The scanner uses AI to read your receipts and pull out:
- Vendor name: The store or service provider
- Date: Transaction date from the receipt
- Total amount: The final total including tax
- Tax amount: Sales tax if listed separately
- Payment method: Card type if printed on receipt
Auto-Categorization
Based on the vendor, creavio suggests an expense category. Common categories for photographers include:
- Equipment & Gear
- Software & Subscriptions
- Travel & Mileage
- Props & Styling
- Education & Workshops
- Marketing & Advertising
- Insurance
- Studio Rent & Utilities
You can accept the suggestion or change it. Over time, creavio learns your preferences and gets more accurate.
Receipt Storage
The original receipt image is stored alongside the expense record. During tax season or an audit, you can pull up any receipt instantly. No more digging through files or hoping you kept the paper copy.
Tips for Best Results
- Scan receipts the same day while they're crisp and legible
- Flatten the receipt before scanning to avoid shadows
- Ensure good lighting for clear text recognition
- Thermal receipts fade quickly, so scan them as soon as possible
All scanned receipts are included in your expense reports and can be exported for your accountant.
