Recurring Income
Predictable income is the foundation of a stable creative business. Whether you offer monthly retainers, membership programs, or subscription-based services, creavio helps you track and forecast recurring revenue.
Setting Up Recurring Income
- Go to Money > Recurring
- Click + New Recurring Income
- Enter the client name and amount
- Choose the frequency: weekly, monthly, quarterly, or annually
- Set the start date and optional end date
- Add a description (e.g., "Monthly content retainer" or "Mini session membership")
- Click Save
How It Works
creavio creates an expected income entry on each scheduled date. When the actual payment arrives (via invoice or bank import), it's matched to the recurring entry. You'll see the status for each period:
- Expected — payment is due but not yet received
- Received — payment has been matched and confirmed
- Overdue — past the expected date with no payment
Recurring Revenue Dashboard
The recurring income overview shows your Monthly Recurring Revenue (MRR) — the total predictable income you can count on each month. This number is critical for:
- Knowing your baseline before booking any new work
- Calculating how many one-off projects you need to hit your revenue goal
- Making confident decisions about hiring, gear purchases, or studio upgrades
Ideas for Recurring Revenue
- Monthly retainers — content creation for brands or small businesses
- Mini session memberships — quarterly or monthly portrait sessions at a fixed rate
- Editing subscriptions — ongoing photo or video editing for other photographers
- Education — monthly mentorship or online course access
Building even a small base of recurring income reduces the feast-or-famine cycle that plagues most creative businesses.
