Website Analytics Tracking
If you are not tracking your website traffic, you are guessing. Analytics show you where visitors come from, what pages they view, and whether they convert into inquiries. creavio supports Google Analytics 4 and Facebook Pixel out of the box.
Google Analytics 4 (GA4) Setup
- Create a Google Analytics account at analytics.google.com if you do not have one
- Create a new property for your photography website
- Copy the Measurement ID (starts with "G-")
- In creavio, go to Website > Settings > Analytics
- Paste the Measurement ID into the Google Analytics field
- Click Save
That is it. creavio injects the GA4 tracking code on every page of your site automatically. No custom code needed.
What GA4 Tracks
Once connected, GA4 captures:
- Page views: Which pages get the most traffic
- Traffic sources: Google search, Instagram, Facebook ads, direct, referral
- User demographics: Location, device type, browser
- Session duration: How long visitors stay on your site
- Bounce rate: Percentage of visitors who leave after one page
- Conversions: Form submissions, booking page visits, contact clicks
Setting Up GA4 Conversions
In GA4, mark key actions as conversions:
- Form submissions: Track when someone submits your inquiry or booking form
- Booking page views: Track visits to your booking page as a micro-conversion
- Contact clicks: Track clicks on your email or phone link
To set these up, go to GA4 Admin > Events > Mark as Conversion. Or create custom events based on page URLs (e.g., thank-you page after form submission).
Facebook Pixel Setup
If you run Facebook or Instagram ads, the Pixel tracks conversions and helps optimize your ad delivery.
- Go to Meta Business Suite > Events Manager
- Create a new Pixel (or use your existing one)
- Copy the Pixel ID
- In creavio, go to Website > Settings > Analytics
- Paste the Pixel ID into the Facebook Pixel field
- Click Save
What the Facebook Pixel Tracks
- Page views: Every page load fires a PageView event
- Lead events: When someone submits your contact or booking form
- Custom audiences: You can create retargeting audiences based on who visited your site. Show ads to people who viewed your wedding portfolio but did not book.
- Lookalike audiences: Facebook finds new people similar to your website visitors
Google Tag Manager (Advanced)
For advanced tracking setups, use Google Tag Manager (GTM). Paste your GTM container ID in the analytics settings. This lets you manage multiple tracking pixels, custom events, and conversion tracking from one dashboard without editing code.
Privacy and Consent
If you serve clients in the EU or California, you may need a cookie consent banner. creavio supports cookie consent through the analytics settings. Enable it, and visitors see a consent banner before tracking activates.
Key Metrics to Monitor
Check these weekly:
- Sessions: Are more people visiting your site this week vs. last?
- Top pages: Which portfolio pages attract the most views?
- Traffic sources: Is your Instagram, Google, or Pinterest driving the most traffic?
- Conversion rate: What percentage of visitors submit your inquiry form?
A photography website should convert at 2-5% of visitors into inquiries. If yours is below 1%, your call-to-action is not visible enough, your portfolio does not match your target market, or your site loads too slowly.
