Family Portrait Packages

Family Portrait Packages

Family portrait clients want clarity. What do they get? How much does it cost? What is the difference between packages? Clear packaging eliminates pricing confusion and increases your average sale.

Package Structure Strategy

Most successful portrait photographers offer three packages. This is not arbitrary. Three options create a natural comparison where the middle package feels like the best value.

  • Essential: Session fee + a set number of digital images (e.g., 15 edited digitals)
  • Classic: Session fee + more digitals + a print credit or small album (e.g., 30 digitals + $150 print credit)
  • Premium: Session fee + all digitals + album + wall art or large print (e.g., all digitals + 10x10 album + 16x20 print)

Price the middle option at the rate you actually want to earn. Price the bottom to feel incomplete. Price the top to feel aspirational but achievable.

Building Packages in creavio

Go to Money > Packages and click New Package. For each package, define:

  • Name: Something descriptive ("Classic Family Session," not "Package B")
  • Price: All-inclusive price
  • What is included: Line items with quantities (15 edited images, 1 album, 2-hour session, etc.)
  • Description: A brief paragraph explaining the experience

Packages appear in your proposals and on your public booking page. Clients see exactly what each tier includes side by side.

Print Credits vs. Physical Products

Two approaches:

Print credits let clients choose what they want from your print store after they see their images. This creates an in-person sales (IPS) opportunity where the gallery images drive purchasing.

Included products (a specific album or print size) simplify the experience. The client knows exactly what they are getting upfront. Less decision fatigue, faster delivery.

Choose based on your business model. If you do IPS, use print credits. If you want a streamlined digital-first experience, include specific products.

Session Fee vs. All-Inclusive Pricing

Some photographers separate the session fee ("creative fee") from product pricing. Others bundle everything into one price.

creavio supports both. For separated pricing, create a session booking with a base fee, then send a proposal post-session with product options. For all-inclusive, build the complete price into the package.

All-inclusive is simpler for families. They know the total cost before booking. No surprises.

Add-Ons

In the package editor, add optional add-ons that clients can include at checkout:

  • Additional edited images ($25 each)
  • Outfit change ($75 for extended session time)
  • Rush delivery ($150 for 48-hour turnaround)
  • Pet inclusion ($50)
  • Additional print sizes

Add-ons increase your average order value without making the base packages feel overpriced.

Seasonal Packages

Create time-limited packages for seasonal demand: fall foliage sessions, holiday card sessions, spring family sessions. Set an availability window on the package so it only appears during the relevant booking period.

Archive seasonal packages after the window closes. Reuse and update them the following year.

Presenting Packages to Clients

Send packages through a Proposal (Money > Proposals). The proposal presents all package options in a clean comparison layout. The client selects their preferred package, signs the contract, and pays the deposit in one flow.

This one-link experience is the fastest path from inquiry to booked session.
