Real Estate Photography Workflow
Real estate photography is volume work. Fast turnaround, consistent quality, standardized delivery. Agents care about speed and reliability above everything. If you can deliver MLS-ready images within 24 hours, you will never run out of work.
Booking for Volume
Create a Real Estate session type optimized for speed:
- Duration: 30-90 minutes depending on property size
- Buffer: 30 minutes (travel between properties)
- Pricing tiers: By square footage or room count. Create separate packages for under 2,000 sqft, 2,000-4,000 sqft, and luxury/4,000+ sqft.
- Add-ons: Drone ($75-150), twilight ($150-250), virtual tour ($100-200), floor plan ($100-150)
Agents book frequently. Make the booking page as frictionless as possible. Show available dates, let them select the property size tier, and pay online.
Agent Intake Form
Attach a short questionnaire that captures:
- Property address
- MLS number
- Square footage
- Number of bedrooms and bathrooms
- Lockbox code or access instructions
- Is the property occupied, vacant, or staged?
- Special features to highlight (pool, view, renovation)
- Turnaround preference (standard 24hr, rush same-day)
Turnaround Expectations
Set clear turnaround times on the session type:
- Standard: 24 hours
- Rush: Same day (premium fee)
- Twilight/Drone: 48 hours (weather dependent)
Agents list properties on tight timelines. Missing your turnaround commitment once will lose the account. Build your editing workflow around hitting these deadlines every time.
MLS-Ready Delivery
Create a Collection in Gallery mode with specific settings for real estate:
- Download format: JPEG, sRGB color space
- Resolution: MLS platforms typically accept 2048px on the long edge minimum. Deliver at 3000-4000px for flexibility.
- File naming: Address-based (123-Main-St-01.jpg through 123-Main-St-25.jpg)
- No watermark: Agents will not accept watermarked images for MLS listings
- Bulk download: Enabled so they can grab everything at once
Virtual Tour Delivery
If you offer virtual tours (Matterport, iGuide, or similar), include the virtual tour link in the collection description. Host the tour externally and link to it from the gallery so agents have one delivery point for all assets.
Invoicing for Agents
Many agents prefer to be invoiced monthly for all shoots rather than paying per-session. Set up a retainer or use net-15 payment terms. Send a monthly invoice summarizing all properties photographed.
Track each shoot as a separate line item with the property address so the agent can match deliveries to invoices.
Scaling to Teams
As your real estate volume grows, add associate photographers as team members. Assign them to bookings, and they deliver through the same consistent workflow. Your agents get the same experience regardless of which photographer shows up.
Repeat Business Pipeline
Tag agent clients in your CRM as "Real Estate." Set automated follow-ups 30 days after a shoot to check if they have new listings. The best real estate photography businesses are built on 10-20 agents who book weekly.
