Bring your clients with you
If you're switching from another platform or a spreadsheet, creavio makes it easy to import your entire client list at once. Upload a CSV file, map your columns, and your clients are in the system in minutes.
Preparing your CSV
Before importing, make sure your spreadsheet is saved as a CSV file (.csv). Most spreadsheet apps (Google Sheets, Excel, Numbers) can export to CSV. Your file should include column headers in the first row.
Common columns to include:
- First name and last name (or a single full name column)
- Email address
- Phone number
- Company name (optional)
- Address (optional)
- Tags (optional, separated by commas within the cell)
- Notes (optional)
Uploading and mapping fields
- Open the Clients tile from your home dashboard or All Apps.
- Click the Import button in the top-right area.
- Select your CSV file.
- creavio reads the column headers and asks you to map each one to a client field. Match "Email" to email, "Phone" to phone, and so on.
- Preview the import to verify the data looks correct.
- Confirm the import.
Deduplication
creavio checks for duplicate clients during import using email addresses as the unique identifier. If a client with the same email already exists in your CRM, you can choose to skip duplicates, update existing records with new data, or create them as separate entries.
After importing
- Review your imported clients to make sure names, emails, and details came through correctly.
- Add tags in bulk to categorize your imported clients (e.g., "imported from HoneyBook" or "2024 clients").
- Clean up any formatting issues like inconsistent phone number formats or missing names.
Supported formats
creavio accepts standard CSV files with UTF-8 encoding. If you're exporting from another platform like HoneyBook, Dubsado, or ShootProof, their export tools typically produce compatible CSV files. If you run into formatting issues, open the file in Google Sheets, clean it up, and re-export as CSV.
