What is Auto-Cull?
Auto-Cull is creavio's AI-powered photo selection tool. It analyzes your uploaded images and identifies the strongest shots based on technical quality and visual appeal. Instead of manually reviewing hundreds or thousands of photos, Auto-Cull gives you a curated starting point in seconds.
How the AI works
When you upload images to a collection, you can enable Auto-Cull before or after upload. The AI evaluates each image on multiple factors:
- Technical quality — Sharpness, exposure, white balance, and noise levels.
- Composition — Framing, subject placement, and visual balance.
- Expressions — Open eyes, genuine smiles, and natural-looking poses.
- Duplicates — Groups similar shots and selects the best from each burst or sequence.
The culling workflow
- Upload your images to a collection.
- Enable Auto-Cull from the collection tools menu.
- Review the AI selections — Approved images are marked, and the rest are available for manual review.
- Adjust as needed — Add back any images the AI excluded, or remove selections that don't fit your vision.
- Finalize — Your curated collection is ready to share with the client.
Saving time on delivery
For a typical 500-image session, manual culling can take 30 to 60 minutes. Auto-Cull reduces that to under five minutes of review time. For high-volume shooters doing multiple sessions per week, this adds up to hours saved every month.
You stay in control
Auto-Cull is a starting point, not a final decision. The AI handles the heavy lifting of identifying obviously weak images (closed eyes, motion blur, duplicates), and you make the creative calls. Think of it as a smart assistant that pulls the top contenders so you can focus on choosing between good and great.
Best practices
- Use Auto-Cull on your initial upload, then do a quick manual pass to add your personal favorites.
- For weddings and events with 1,000+ images, Auto-Cull is especially valuable for the first rough cut.
- Combine with client proofing to let clients pick their favorites from your AI-curated selection.
