Connect a client's Facebook Page and Instagram

A Facebook Page and the Instagram business account attached to it are connected by a single action. Meta exposes an Instagram business account only as a field on the Page it belongs to, so there is no separate Instagram picker to find — connecting the Page connects the Instagram account with it.

Steps

  1. Open the client, then go to Connections.
  2. On either the Facebook or the Instagram row, click Connect. Both rows open the same picker — in place, with no Meta login screen.
  3. Pick the Page. Each row shows the Page name, its category, the Instagram username where one is attached, and what creavio is permitted to do with that Page.
  4. Confirm. Both the Facebook and the Instagram rows flip to Connected.

Reading the permissions on a Page row

The picker reports what the credential can actually do, measured at the time you open it — not a guess. Three answers are possible for Instagram publishing:

  • Publishing available — the credential carries the Instagram publishing permission for this Page.
  • Publishing not available — it does not. You can still connect the Page for reporting, inbox and audience data; scheduled Instagram posts on this connection will not go out.
  • Publish capability unknown — creavio could not read the permission from Meta at that moment. It is not a “no”. Reopen the picker later; if it stays unknown, contact support.

If the Instagram username is blank, there is no Instagram business account linked to that Page on Meta’s side. Link it in Meta Business Suite, then reopen the picker. creavio cannot create that link for you.

The same Page on two clients

Unlike an ad account, the same Facebook Page may legitimately be connected to more than one client workspace — a Page is not exclusive. The picker marks Pages already connected to this client so you do not duplicate the connection here.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I connect Instagram without the Facebook Page?

No. Meta does not expose an Instagram business account independently — it hangs off the Page. One action binds both.

The Page is listed but I can't publish to it.

Check the permissions shown on that Page row in the picker. Publishing to a Page and publishing to its Instagram account are separate permissions, and the picker reports each one.

What does 'publish capability unknown' mean?

creavio could not read the permission back from Meta when you opened the picker. It is explicitly not the same as 'no'. Reopen the picker; if it still says unknown, contact support rather than assuming publishing will work.

Does connecting a Page remove it from another client?

No. A Page can be connected to more than one client workspace at the same time.
