Building Your Photography Brand

Your Brand Is More Than a Logo

A brand is how people feel when they interact with your business. It is the sum of your visual identity, your communication style, your client experience, and the quality of your work. A strong brand does not just attract clients. It attracts the right clients.

This guide covers building a photography brand from scratch and maintaining consistency across your creavio platform.

Visual Identity

Logo

Your logo does not need to be complicated. The best photography logos are clean wordmarks: your business name in a distinctive font. Avoid clip art cameras, lens icons, or generic shutters. Those say "stock photography" not "professional photographer."

Upload your logo in creavio under Settings > Branding. It appears on your website, galleries, invoices, contracts, and emails.

Color Palette

Pick 2-3 colors that represent your style:

  • Primary color: Your main brand color. Used for buttons, headers, accents.
  • Secondary color: Complements the primary. Used for hover states, secondary elements.
  • Neutral: A warm or cool neutral for backgrounds and body text.

Set your brand colors in Settings > Branding > Colors. creavio applies them across your website, galleries, and client-facing documents.

Typography

Choose one or two fonts that match your aesthetic. A common approach: one serif font for headings (classic, editorial feel) and one sans-serif for body text (clean, modern). Configure your typography in the website builder under Design > Fonts.

Brand Voice

How You Sound Matters

Your writing voice should match the experience you deliver. A fine art wedding photographer sounds different from a high-energy event photographer. Define your voice across three dimensions:

  • Formal vs casual: Are you "Dear Sarah" or "Hey Sarah!"?
  • Technical vs approachable: Do you talk about f-stops or "that golden light"?
  • Reserved vs enthusiastic: "I look forward to working with you" vs "I am SO excited!"

Apply this voice consistently in your creavio email templates, website copy, questionnaire instructions, and social media posts.

Consistency Across creavio

Website

Your creavio website is the hub of your brand. Every page should use the same colors, fonts, and tone. Write your About page in first person. Show your face. Clients hire people, not businesses.

Galleries

Brand your Collections with your logo, colors, and a consistent layout. When a client opens a gallery, it should feel like an extension of your website, not a generic file sharing page.

Client Communication

Every email, invoice, and contract that leaves creavio carries your brand. Customize email templates with your branded headers. Use your voice consistently. Even automated messages should sound like you wrote them personally.

Social Media

Use creavio's social media manager to maintain visual consistency across platforms. Design templates in Canva using your brand kit. Schedule posts that match your brand aesthetic and voice.

Brand Audit Checklist

Review your creavio presence quarterly:

  • Is your logo current and high-resolution everywhere?
  • Are your brand colors consistent across website, galleries, and documents?
  • Do your email templates use your current voice and style?
  • Is your portfolio showing your best, most recent work?
  • Are your session descriptions written in your brand voice?
  • Do your social media profiles match your website aesthetic?

Brand building is not a one-time project. It evolves with your photography. But the foundations — logo, colors, voice, consistency — should be solid before you spend a dollar on marketing.
