Content Recycling
Your best social media content deserves more than one moment in the spotlight. Most of your followers never saw your original post. Content recycling helps you get more mileage from work you've already done.
Why Recycle Content?
Social media algorithms show your posts to a fraction of your followers. A post that performed well three months ago can perform just as well when reshared with a fresh audience. Photography content, especially beautiful images, doesn't expire the way news does.
How creavio's Content Recycling Works
creavio identifies your top-performing posts based on engagement metrics and suggests them for reposting. Here's how to set it up:
- Go to Marketing > Social > Content Recycling
- Enable recycling for your connected social accounts
- Set your minimum age before a post becomes eligible for recycling (recommended: 90 days)
- Set your recycling frequency (e.g., 2 recycled posts per week)
- Choose whether to recycle with the original caption or prompt you to write a new one
What Gets Recycled
creavio considers posts for recycling based on:
- Engagement rate: Likes, comments, shares, and saves relative to your average
- Content type: Evergreen content (portfolio work, tips) over time-sensitive posts (announcements, seasonal specials)
- Recency: Posts that haven't been recycled recently get priority
Customizing Before Repost
Before any recycled post goes live, you can:
- Edit the caption for freshness
- Update hashtags to current trending tags
- Change the posting time
- Skip the suggestion entirely
Content That Shouldn't Be Recycled
creavio automatically excludes:
- Time-sensitive announcements (mini session dates, limited offers)
- Posts you've marked as "do not recycle"
- Posts with low engagement scores
- Content older than your maximum age setting
The 80/20 Rule
A healthy content mix is roughly 80% new content and 20% recycled. This keeps your feed feeling fresh while maximizing the value of your best work. creavio's scheduling algorithm maintains this balance automatically.
