What the size means
Instagram's help page "Reel size & aspect ratios on Instagram", read 21 October 2026, says you can upload a reel with an aspect ratio between 1.91:1 and 9:16, a minimum of 30 FPS and 720 pixels. Cover photos: 420px by 654px (or 1:1.55 ratio). Instagram publishes no recommended pixel size for the reel video itself. The 1080 x 1920 preset is a 9:16 frame at 1080 wide, worked out from 9:16.
Questions
Is it private?
Yes. The crop runs in your browser. No file is sent to creavio or anyone else, and nothing is stored after you close the tab. The HEIC decoder downloads once, the first time you add a HEIC photo.
Which formats can I use?
JPG, JPEG, JFIF, PNG, WebP, AVIF and HEIC. SVG files are not accepted. The page uses the same decoders as the converters, including the HEIC decoder.
Does Instagram publish a reel video pixel size?
No. The help page gives an aspect-ratio range, a minimum of 720 pixels, and 30 FPS. The 1080 x 1920 preset is a 9:16 frame at 1080 wide, worked out from 9:16, and is labelled that way.
How many files can I crop at once?
One photo at a time. Clear it to add another. A file that is too large is not added.
Which browsers does it work in?
Current versions of Chrome and Safari. It uses only features built into the browser, so there is nothing to install.
HEIC decoding uses heic-to and libheif, free software licensed under the GNU LGPL 3.0. They are included unmodified as a separate file, loaded only when you add a HEIC photo. The source code is at the links above.
