Senior Portrait Experience

Senior Portrait Experience

Senior portraits are an experience sale. The session itself, the outfit planning, the reveal, the social media sharing. Parents are paying for their child to feel like a star. creavio helps you deliver that experience from first contact to final prints.

The Inquiry

Senior portrait inquiries usually come from parents. Create a booking inquiry form tailored for senior sessions:

  • Student's name and graduation year
  • Parent/guardian name and contact
  • School name
  • Interests, hobbies, sports, or activities to incorporate
  • Preferred session style (urban, nature, studio, mixed)
  • How they heard about you

The form creates two contacts in your CRM: the parent (primary, billing) and the student (secondary). Link them together on the client record.

Style Guide and Consultation

After the inquiry, send a style guide. This is a PDF or web page (host it on your creavio website) with:

  • What to wear: outfit count, color suggestions, what to avoid
  • Hair and makeup: professional recommended, natural is fine too
  • Props to bring: letterman jacket, instrument, sports gear, pet
  • Location previews: sample images from your favorite spots
  • Timeline: what happens at the session and how long it takes

Schedule a brief consultation (phone or video) through your booking page to finalize the plan. Use this call to build rapport with both the parent and the senior.

Booking and Contract

Send a proposal with your senior packages. Common structure:

  • The Session: 1-2 hours, 2-3 outfit changes, 1-2 locations
  • Digital package: X edited images, social media crops included
  • Print + Digital package: All digitals + print credit or graduation announcements
  • The Full Experience: Extended session, all digitals, album, wall portrait, announcements

The contract should include model release language. Seniors love being featured on your social media and website. Get permission upfront. See model release forms.

The Session

Use the booking record to review the student's interests and outfit plan right before the session. Reference their hobbies during the shoot to keep them comfortable and engaged.

Shoot for variety: close-ups, full-length, candid laughter, serious/editorial, with props, without props. Parents want range.

The Reveal

If you do in-person reveal sessions (IPS), schedule it as a follow-up booking. Create a Collection in Proofing mode with the curated selects. Present on a large screen or projector.

If you deliver digitally, create a Collection in Gallery mode and send the link. Include a personal message referencing the session.

Social Media Sharing

Seniors want to share their photos immediately. Include social-media-ready crops (square and story format) in the delivery. Add a branded watermark with your logo and a hashtag. Encourage them to tag you.

Share your favorites to your own social accounts. Tag the school and relevant local hashtags. Senior portrait posts are consistently among the highest-engagement content for portrait photographers.

Graduation Announcements

If you offer announcements, include design templates in the premium package. Upload announcement designs to the collection with an ordering link or proof for approval.

Referral Engine

Seniors talk to each other. After delivery, ask for referrals. "Know any juniors who will need senior portraits next year?" Offer a referral discount. Track referral sources in your CRM using tags.

The senior portrait market renews every year. Build relationships with parents and schools, and your calendar fills itself.
