1. Go to Domains
Open the Website tile from your home dashboard or All Apps, then switch to the Domains tab. This is where you manage custom domains for your creavio website.
2. Add Your Domain
Click Add Domain and enter the domain you want to use, such as www.yourname.com or yourname.com. If you don't own a domain yet, you'll need to purchase one from a registrar like Namecheap, Google Domains, or Cloudflare.
3. Update DNS Settings
creavio will provide you with DNS records to add at your domain registrar. You'll typically need to add:
- A CNAME record pointing your domain to creavio's servers
- Optionally, an A record if you're using a root domain without www
Log into your domain registrar's dashboard and add these records. The exact steps vary by registrar, but it's usually under DNS settings or zone management.
4. Wait for Propagation
DNS changes can take anywhere from a few minutes to 48 hours to propagate, though most complete within an hour. creavio will show the status of your domain connection in real time.
5. SSL Certificate
Once DNS is verified, creavio automatically provisions a free SSL certificate for your domain. This means your site will be accessible via HTTPS, which is essential for security and search rankings.
6. Verify
Visit your domain in a browser to confirm everything is working. You should see your creavio website loading with a secure HTTPS connection.
Tips
- Use www.yourname.com as your primary domain and set up a redirect from the bare domain.
- If DNS isn't propagating, double-check that there are no conflicting records at your registrar.
- A custom domain makes your brand look professional and helps with SEO.
