Website not publishing changes

What's happening

You've made changes to your creavio portfolio website — updated images, text, or layout — but when you visit the live site, the old version is still showing. Your edits appear correctly in the editor but not on the published site.

Common causes

  1. Changes are saved as a draft but haven't been published
  2. Your browser is showing a cached version of the site
  3. CDN cache hasn't refreshed with the latest version
  4. Custom domain DNS is serving a stale version

How to fix it

1. Make sure you've published the changes

In the website editor, look for a Publish button. Saving changes to your site and publishing them are separate steps. If you see an unpublished changes indicator or a Publish button that's highlighted or active, click it to push your changes live. Until you publish, edits only exist in draft mode.

2. Hard refresh your browser

Your browser aggressively caches websites to load them faster. To see the latest version:

  • Windows: Press Ctrl+Shift+R or Ctrl+F5
  • Mac: Press Cmd+Shift+R
  • Mobile: Clear your browser app's cache in your device settings

You can also try opening your site in an incognito/private window to completely bypass the cache.

3. Wait for CDN propagation

creavio uses a content delivery network (CDN) to serve your website quickly worldwide. After publishing, CDN nodes may take 5-15 minutes to refresh with the new version. If you just published, wait a few minutes and try again with a hard refresh.

4. Check your custom domain

If you're using a custom domain, there may be an additional caching layer from your domain provider. Try visiting your site using your default creavio URL (not the custom domain) to confirm the changes are published. If they show on the default URL but not the custom domain, the custom domain's DNS cache needs more time to update.

5. Review for publishing errors

If you see an error when trying to publish, check that all required fields are filled in and that your content doesn't include any unsupported elements. Try removing recent changes one at a time to identify if a specific edit is causing the publish to fail.

Still not working?

If your changes still aren't appearing after 30 minutes, contact creavio support with your website URL and a description of the changes that aren't showing. We can force a cache refresh on our end.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why aren't my website changes showing up?

Make sure you clicked Publish after making changes. Also try clearing your browser cache or viewing in an incognito window.

How long does publishing take?

Changes typically appear within a few seconds of publishing. If changes don't appear after a minute, try a hard refresh.

Can I revert to a previous version?

creavio saves your last published version. If something goes wrong, you can restore the previous state.
