How to convert AVIF to JPG
- Add your AVIF images: drop them on the box above, or choose them from your device. You can add up to 20 at once.
- Your browser converts each one to JPG right away. Nothing is uploaded.
- Download each JPG, or download them all together as a single zip.
What is an AVIF file?
AVIF is the AV1 Image File Format, published by the Alliance for Open Media. It compresses a still image with the AV1 video codec, can hold transparency, high bit depth and HDR, and is usually much smaller than a JPG at the same visual quality. Current browsers display it; many editors, print services, office apps and upload forms still do not.
What is a JPG?
JPG (also written JPEG) is the format for sharing photographs. It is lossy, which keeps files small, and every browser, phone, editing app, print lab and email client opens it. It has no transparency.
Questions
Is it private?
Yes. The converter is a page, not an upload: your browser opens each file, converts it and saves the result to your device. No file is sent to creavio or to anyone else, and nothing is stored after you close the tab.
Is the quality kept?
The JPG keeps the same pixel dimensions and is saved at quality 92 out of 100. Transparent areas are filled with white. JPG stores 8 bits per channel in sRGB, so a 10-bit or HDR AVIF is converted to standard range. Metadata is not copied.
How many files can I convert at once?
Up to 20 at a time. Download them one by one, or all together as a single zip.
Is there a file size limit?
Each image can be up to 50 MB. A larger file shows a message and is not added.
Which browsers does it work in?
The converter uses your browser's own AVIF decoder: Chrome 85 and later, Firefox 93 and later, Safari 16.1 and later. If a file will not open, update your browser and try again.
