How to convert TIFF to JPG

  1. Add your TIFF files: drop them on the box above, or choose them from your device. You can add up to 20 at once.
  2. Your browser converts each page to JPG on your device. Nothing is uploaded.
  3. Download each JPG. A TIFF with several pages downloads as a zip with one JPG for each page.

What is a TIFF file?

TIFF, the Tagged Image File Format, is used for scanning, print and archiving. It stores an image with no loss, at 8 or 16 bits per channel, in RGB or CMYK, with several pages in one file. The files are large, Chrome does not display them, and many upload forms reject them.

What is a JPG?

JPG (also written JPEG) is the format for sharing photographs. It is lossy, which keeps files small, and every browser, phone, editing app, print lab and email client opens it. It has no transparency.

Questions

Is it private?

Yes. The converter is a page, not an upload: your browser opens each file, converts it and saves the result to your device. No file is sent to creavio or to anyone else, and nothing is stored after you close the tab. The TIFF decoder downloads once, the first time you add a TIFF.

Is the quality kept?

Each page is saved at quality 92 out of 100 at its own pixel size. The page reads grey, RGB and palette TIFFs, and CMYK at 8 bits per channel, in their common settings; others show a message. 16 bits per channel become 8. CMYK is turned into RGB with a plain formula and no colour profile, so colours can shift. Transparent areas become white. Layers, colour profiles and metadata are not kept.

How many files can I convert at once?

Up to 20 at a time. Each page becomes its own JPG, such as scan-page-01.jpg, and a TIFF with several pages downloads as one zip. Preview copies stored inside the file are skipped. A TIFF can have up to 50 pages.

Is there a file size limit?

Each TIFF can be up to 200 MB, and each page must fit this browser's pixel limit, 100 megapixels on a desktop computer. A larger file or page shows a message.

Which browsers does it work in?

Current versions of Chrome and Safari. The TIFF decoder is part of the page, so your browser does not need to open TIFF itself.
