How to convert JPG to PNG

  1. Add your JPG images: drop them on the box above, or choose them from your device. You can add up to 20 at once.
  2. Your browser converts each one to PNG right away. Nothing is uploaded.
  3. Download each PNG, or download them all together as a single zip.

What is a JPG file?

JPG (also written JPEG) is the format for sharing photographs. It is lossy, which keeps files small, and every browser, phone, editing app, print lab and email client opens it. It has no transparency.

What is a PNG?

PNG is a lossless format: every pixel is stored exactly, and saving a PNG again changes nothing. It supports transparency, which makes it the usual choice for logos, graphics and screenshots. A photograph saved as PNG is several times larger than the same photo as a JPG.

Questions

Is it private?

Yes. The converter is a page, not an upload: your browser opens each file, converts it and saves the result to your device. No file is sent to creavio or to anyone else, and nothing is stored after you close the tab.

Is the quality kept?

The PNG is an exact, lossless copy of the JPG at the same pixel dimensions. It does not restore detail the JPG compression removed, but it stops further loss when you edit and save again. Nothing becomes transparent automatically, the file is larger, and EXIF metadata is not copied.

How many files can I convert at once?

Up to 20 at a time. Download them one by one, or all together as a single zip.

Is there a file size limit?

Each image can be up to 50 MB. A larger file shows a message and is not added.

Which browsers does it work in?

Current versions of Chrome and Safari. It uses only features built into the browser, so there is nothing to install.

Zip files are built with fflate (MIT license).
