How to convert PNG to JPG

  1. Add your PNG images: drop them on the box above, or choose them from your device. You can add up to 20 at once.
  2. Your browser converts each one to JPG right away. Nothing is uploaded.
  3. Download each JPG, or download them all together as a single zip.

What is a PNG file?

PNG is a lossless format: every pixel is stored exactly, and saving a PNG again changes nothing. It supports transparency, which makes it the usual choice for logos, graphics and screenshots. A photograph saved as PNG is several times larger than the same photo as a JPG.

What is a JPG?

JPG (also written JPEG) is the format for sharing photographs. It is lossy, which keeps files small, and every browser, phone, editing app, print lab and email client opens it. It has no transparency.

Questions

Is it private?

Yes. The converter is a page, not an upload: your browser opens each file, converts it and saves the result to your device. No file is sent to creavio or to anyone else, and nothing is stored after you close the tab.

Is the quality kept?

The JPG is saved at quality 92 out of 100 at the same pixel dimensions, and is usually much smaller than a PNG photo. JPG has no transparency, so transparent pixels are blended onto white. Text and sharp edges can look softer, so keep PNG for screenshots and logos. Metadata is not copied.

How many files can I convert at once?

Up to 20 at a time. Download them one by one, or all together as a single zip.

Is there a file size limit?

Each image can be up to 50 MB. A larger file shows a message and is not added.

Which browsers does it work in?

Current versions of Chrome and Safari. It uses only features built into the browser, so there is nothing to install.

Zip files are built with fflate (MIT license).
